When we center Mom, the whole family thrives. There’s magic here.
Welcome to Make Mama Magic: A space for moms of children with Down syndrome to cultivate circles of support, because we’re not meant to do this alone.
Hi, I’m Starr.
A T21 mama who knows what it feels like to wonder if you're doing enough, if you're asking for too much, or if you're somehow supposed to have it all figured out by now.
Prior to motherhood, I had a thriving career and felt deeply confident in my ability to navigate whatever challenges life might bring.
But when my superstar son Sami was born with Down syndrome (around the same time I was diagnosed with breast cancer), I felt like I'd been thrown into the deep end—disoriented, struggling to find my footing, with the picture I'd held of motherhood and self completely cracked.
Those overwhelming scenarios from doctors weren't what I needed; what I really needed was time, support, and connection with other mums who were further along the path.
Through a lot of trial and error, vulnerability, and stumbling forward, I discovered that building real support networks wasn't just helpful, it was everything.
What helped me most was connecting with other parents who could give me a grounded, real understanding of what life with a child with Down Syndrome could actually look like.
I figured out how to transform our family's experience from “just getting by” to actually thriving.
This is why I created Make Mama Magic.
As moms, we naturally center our children. Make Mama Magic centers you, so your cup is full and the ripple effects reach your child, your family, and your whole ecosystem.
How do we fill our cup? With each other.
I believe strength is in community. I believe knowledge is power, and that when we gather, whether in groups or one-on-one, we share resources, tips, and encouragement that make the road lighter. Connection matters. Sometimes meeting just one other person on a similar journey can change everything.
Parenting a child with Down syndrome is a marathon, not a sprint, and no one should have to run it alone.
I’m so glad you’re here.
